The art of body modification is something I never imagined I would be into. My parents probably blame themselves, for letting me get that first piercing at the top of my ear. I hope they know that it's not something they did or did not do. I've learned that people will be who they feel is right.
I think some people wondered if I would stop piercing things and getting tattoos after my transition from female to male, as if these were steps I was taking out of depression, stress, or some other influence. Perhaps I was "making up" for other things that were bothering me. Interestingly enough, my physical (and mental) FTM transition hasn't stopped or prevented me from acquiring any less (or more) bodyart. If anything, it has allowed me to see that this is the only life we get, and we might as well live it up, responsibly, while we're here.
